The Grove Spot is known as the 'Grand Cafe,' featuring a sunny porch, exposed brick, front bar room with lots of windows, and a back dining room with a relaxed atmosphere. On the evening of November 28, 1942, at 17 Piedmont Street, 492 people died as a result of a sudden inferno at Cocoanut Grove, a downtown nightclub.
